Safety recalls for Jetta

Safety recalls for Jetta’s 2009 and 2010
Area affected: Power train: automatic transmission

Description of recall:
Volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 passenger cars manufactured between September 2008 and august 2009. the wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the direct shift gearbox (DSG) may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped. With insufficiently crimped connector wires, a temperature sensor has the potential to falsely detect a high gearbox oil temperature, causing the transmission to abruptly shift to neutral. If this happens, the selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel will flash. In addition, the "depress brake pedal" indicator light will be illuminated, alerting the driver to apply the brakes.

Action to fix it:
Volkswagen will reprogram the transmission control module with updated software free of charge. The recall began on October 20, 2009. Owners may contact Volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987.

Volkswagen Passat Replacement To Debut At 2011 North American International Auto Show

Volkswagen‘s New Midsize Sedan will debut at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit this month, as part of VW’ quest to increase sales in American to 800,000 units by 2018.

The NMS, like its smaller sibling, was designed with the North American market in mind, and will compete head-to-head with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. This has caused concern for loyal Volkswagen fans, but the company cites the move to a larger, more American-like vehicle as necessary if Volkswagen is to increase volume in the United States.
Volkswagen will also build the car at its new facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Pricing is expected to start at around $20,000, and both gasoline and diesel powertrains will be offered.

Record December Sales Put Finishing Touches on Record Year
AJAX, ON – January 4, 2011

Volkswagen Canada has rung in the New Year with style,
posting its best-ever sales results for both the month and year. December’s total sales of 3,737
represented the company’s all-time best for the month. The yearly total of 45,388 eclipsed the
previous record; set in 2001, by over 2,000 units.
Leading the charge has been the tremendous performance of the all-new 2011 Jetta. In
December, a total of 2,150 found their way onto Canadian driveways, a figure 190% better than
last year’s result. The Jetta has been completely redesigned; and is larger than the previous
model, yet is more fuel efficient thanks to reduced weight and superior engineering.
Sales of the Golf continue to be strong, numbering 397 for the month. The Golf Wagon posted
sales of 287, and the Golf GTI reported 103. As a whole, the Golf Family sold at a rate 98%
better than the previous year.
Consumer support of Volkswagen's equipped with TDI Clean Diesel technology has shown
impressive strength, and these models now make up 29% of the total volume of all new
Volkswagen sales. This award-winning technology is now available on the new Jetta, Golf, and
the all-new Touareg sport utility. TDI Clean Diesel engines utilize cutting edge technology,
which results in high mileage and tremendous vehicle range. Environmental responsibility does
not take a back seat, nor does the same fun to drive feeling found on all Volkswagen's.
